Questions Para El League

Okay. I don't feel much like blogging for the next few days. Such is the fate of checking your Sitemeter statistics.

So I open the floor to you, the readership, to ask any and all questions of The League of Melbotis. I will answer them when I return.

Go nuts.

Also, this show will be on in the Fall. I think it looks pretty cool.

If you could go back in time and convince yourself not to become a fan of Superman, would you? Why or why not? If not, what would you go back in time to tell yourself, and to what year would you go?

Que tegusta hacer cuando jugar con unicornes?

What's wrong with your stats? An average of 244 visitors/day not enough for you?

Why do you worry so much about how many people are reading your site?

The League said...

A) It's 242 people looking for pictures of Dr. Strange who "hit" the site, but don't stay

B) LoM has kind of moved beyond "writing for myself" territory. As much as I know it's convenient for Jamie, Mom and Dad to keep tabs on me with a blog, it seems like a lot of work.

It all comes down to: do you enjoy it?

I write DVD reviews for the Texas Public Radio website, but I will never achieve the same readership as a review in a newspaper, or at Entertainment Weekly.com...

I write them because I enjoy writing them, and like to share.

Oh, and now that there's more than one Cone child, the potential "Attack of the Cones" blog title seems more appropriate than ever.

I guess, honestly, I am increasingly not enjoying working on The League. I feel like I had a lot more material when I was basically grousing about Chandler and Arizona. Readership seems to be in a steady decline from where we were a year ago. And between recent up-ramping on Comic Fodder and a desire to pursue some other projects that have been collecting dust for years now, it may be the end of The League. And that makes me kind of sad.

Well since I update my original blog hardly ever, I can certainly understand your waning excitement. I still enjoy checking in here every day. Take a break and come back when you feel like it.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the new CBS show, Kid Nation.

Yeah, I don't mean this in any kind of negative way, but your frustration with this blog seems to be an ongoing theme at this point. If it's really that much of a pain, just shut it down or take an extended break. Blogs are meant to be fun.

I agree with Steanso.

Plus now that I'll be in TX I can track you down and make you entertain me in person. HAHAHAH!

1. what was the deal with you being single for a while? Am I remembering something wrong?

2. Did the league event at Clambake Al's happen? I thought that contretemps was a brilliant bit of 21st century synergy/awkwardness.

3. Why don't you have any pictures of you playing bass in a Superman outfit? As a bonus, you could collect and link to bass tab of superhero themes.

4. How's Melbotis? We hear little about our namesake. It's like a Beckett play for crissakes!

That's all for now. Rock On.

I don't think I've been single since 1995, so I'm not sure what disinformation was passed along. Jamie moved to PHX ahead of me about five years ago, but I'm afraid that multi-week stretch is the best I can recall of being single.

Sadly, the events at Johnny Clambake's never materialized. No real explanation, but we just got busy and it sort of fell apart.

There are no pics of me playing bass in a Superman outfit as I own no Superman outfit, and I played bass but a single day. C'est la vie.

Melbotis is awesome. He's one spoiled, spoiled boy. Jamie has pretty much devoted her days to making sure Mel is living a comfortable, happy life. Sometimes to the detriment of myself.

League, see your unfortunately timed post from February 15 2007 (day after Valentine's) which cryptically described your divorce from a comic shop in terms of boy-girl.

That had a lot of us reeeeaaally confused.

Anonymous said...

Or maybe it was job-related. I can't remember now. You either left a job or a comic shop, I dunno anymore!

The League said...

Oh. That was when I abruptly quit a job. Sorry for the confusion, team.

Anonymous said...

You should post more pictures of Mel, Lucy, and Jeff the Cat

Thanks nathan, glad to know I wasn't alone in the confusion there.

I hate to dwell on things, but if you had an RSS feed (and I do believe it was JMDIV who set it up for you), I would be here everytime you posted.

I will start thinking of questions to ask. Probably tomorrow, though, because I'm incredibly grumpy and busy today.

I agree with Steanso, also. This is supposed to be fun. I believe I can speak for the readership when I say that it is fun for us to read and comment here. If you are not having fun providing that commentary, then there is some disconnect. Perhaps you need to liberate yourself from feeling that posting is a chore. Post less often. Don't worry about what others think. Remove your Sitemeter. If the only people that read are your Loyal Leaguers and a few randoms that stumble across it, does that make it less fun? I think you are just overthinking the site. Just think of your blog posts as email conversations with your Loyal Leaguer pals and the rest as just gravy. We'll enjoy it, your family will enjoy it, and it will be fun.

Maybe you should have guest host, like they do occasionally on the Late Show or Tonight Show.

So you start to feel burned out...turn it over to Stephen Harms for a week. Or Randy or Jim D.

They can carry on, you can still post in the comments, and then once you feel back up to it, take the reigns back.

I seriously doubt The League will allow me to guest blog.
