But as per chintzy? The companies have figured out the sort of quality they need to offer. I wouldn't consider All-Star Superman #1 to be chintzy, no matter what paper it was printed on. And Tiny Titans is a great comic for the kiddo's (and I personally find it really funny).

They really do strive to put a comic into your hands that anyone can enjoy, and they've all gotten much better about their selections since FCBD began several years ago.

As per the carnival-like atmosphere, there usually IS some sort of big sale going on (if the shop keep is smart). Or some other deal, like a signing. I think Atomic Comics had Spider-Man show up at their FCBD in 2004 or so.

So check out your local comic shop. They might have something fun going on.The Leaguehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04836241071795980225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5256317.post-62824523571589192432008-05-01T08:26:00.000-05:002008-05-01T08:26:00.000-05:00Free comic day is really more about the festival-l...Free comic day is really more about the festival-like atmosphere than any spectacular deals on comics (the free comics are always some kind of sort of chintzy special edition comics that are specifically printed up for free comic day- they don't unfortunately, let you just run through the store and grab whatever comic you like and run out the front door without paying for it). Austin Books usually puts some other stuff on sale for Free Comic Book Day, though.J.S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03903186469796595837noreply@blogger.com
