My new job as mental health prosecutor has me dealing with Austin's homeless a lot more than I used to, and it's made me aware of the shortage of resources needed in addressing their problems, particularly mental illness. Here's a web site you can go to for making a donation or volunteering to help the homeless through the ARCH (Austin Resource Center for the Homeless) if anyone's interested:
http://www.frontsteps.org/J.S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03903186469796595837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5256317.post-89395502741989718852008-02-17T18:10:00.000-06:002008-02-17T18:10:00.000-06:00What a fantastic ending to the story. Randy, thanks for finding the follow-up article.

It's not often you get the happy ending you're looking for, and I can say with all certainty, I hope I don't see Jerry at the corner again. The Leaguehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04836241071795980225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5256317.post-71980975163783987572008-02-17T13:11:00.000-06:002008-02-17T13:11:00.000-06:00Thank you, Randy. Shady Oaks leads onto 183, you know, and cars tends to bring the highway with them.

What superised me was to hear later that several of our neighbors missed him. He was a tomcat, after all, and roamed. Some even fed him on a semi-regular basis.

Jerry isn't/wasn't a cat and I don't mean to imply anything of the sort. Just that one takes for granted a fixture of the neighborhood until they are gone.

I truly hope for the happy ending suggested in the article. Of course I do. I read comic books, I always want goodness to prevail.Michael Corleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01441107947600810769noreply@blogger.com
