Elvis Costello's 2.75 hour show means no post for you

This evening I went to see Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes at the Bass on the UT Campus with British person, Simon (not Canadian Simon, whom you know an love).

Costello is on a Country kick, so we heard some of this...

and he also did old favorites, like this:

only more acoustic-y

He also wrapped it up with a blend of a Costello song "Five Small Words" and Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away". Which, oh hey... its also on YouTube

Aw, man. Totally jealous. I saw the Melvins a couple weeks ago, which totally ruled, but I'd love to see Elvis while he's still around. I saw the ep of his show where he played with Lou Reed and it was crazy good.

So the concert was good?

Yeah, I'm sure I would've remembered seeing that concert. Or maybe I wouldn't have. Glad you had a good time.

It was fun, indeed.

I'm a little iffy on the venue, so I'll need to consider that next time I get tickets there. (It's the same place they have touring Broadway shows, etc... but people kept shoving past to go to the @#$% bar).

But the actual performance was great, and included several songs that you would hope to hear from Costello if you're paying good money to see him.

Also, he's quite good with the stage banter. I'd assumed that was a lost art form.

I'm too jealous. Why couldn't Elvis Costello be in Austin when I was up there.

Michele, so far the stars have simply not aligned. Keep your eyes peeled. He could be here at any time!
