Y'all meet Emmylou.
After taking some time since we lost Andre, we decided to head to the Austin Humane Society, where we adopted Scout and Jeff the Cat, and we walked out the door with a small friend who will be with us for the next 15 years, I'd guess.
We brought Emmylou home June 28th, and it's been a swift learning curve for all of us. She's very bright and a lot of fun. She came with the name Maisy, but I didn't take to it and workshopped a few names. Jamie would not allow me to name her Patsy Canine.
The name is stolen from Ms. Emmylou Harris, because too many dogs are likely named Dolly, and Linda Rondstadt is a bad name for a dog. I dunno. Give it a go. Let me know how calling for Linda Ronstadt goes at the dog park.
Emmylou appears to be some sort of terrier mix, and that's cool. Like every dog we've had, she's very different from the last dog. She's just over 1/5th of Andre's mass, and has about 700x his level of energy. This is our first dog since Lucy who seems to have on and off settings and not much in between. She also has no fear about leaping off of and over sofas.

I went into the shelter expecting to get another big dog, but Emmylou and Jamie hit it off immediately. And why fight fate?
She is very much Jamie's dog while also doing the thing I was hoping for - which is that I've consistently gotten in 2.5 - 4 miles walking every day getting pulled behind this small locomotive.
Whomever had her before crate-trained her, so that's been interesting. We put down a crate on night #1 and she just ran right into it at bedtime. We don't even close the door. She just likes having her own space.
Anyway, I adore the little bean. She's a very good girl.
