League Weekly Rewind 2025 (December 28, 2025)

Hey, welcome to a holiday-hang-time edition of the League Weekly Rewind.

We're in that awkward space between Christmas and New Year.  I had the whole week of Christmas off, but will work the Monday through Wednesday of New Year's.

For our holiday greeting dispatched during Christmas Day, you can check in here.

That cross-stitch you see above Jamie did by hand over about three or four months.  When the tree comes down, we'll put it on the wall there in the corner.

I'm not surprised Jamie did such an amazing job, but I am deeply proud of the work she did.

My father-in-law, DocDik, also got us a fun present, also Emmylou-themed.

We're just weird dog people now, I guess.

The Rest of Christmas

So, Christmas was at my folks' house, as usual.  Lovely dinner, some presents, and my mom had hired a photographer who came over and took family pictures.  Which I appreciate, because everyone else in the family fancies themselves a guerrilla photographer and waits until you're not looking and takes the most hideous possible candid photos which they post without asking.  OR, they wait until we've all been eating and drinking for hours, and then think "they're lightly sweaty, red-faced and bloated.  PICTURE TIME."

So, yes, we stand a small chance of having decent pictures this time.

The day after Christmas, pals Matt and Nicole came down to South Austin with their greyhound, Stella.  We had a lovely dinner, some cocktails and good times.

Dug and K were here until Saturday afternoon.  I dropped them off around 2:30 and they were safely home in Berkeley before Jamie went to sleep.

Speaking of Jamie, she picked up one of several colds that are going around, so we're doing the chores for a bit - which is fair trade.  She took great care of everything during my surgery, etc...

Speaking of which...

Back on My Feet

Due to my lack of mobility during my Broken Foot Era, my exercise has been absolutely non-existent for months.  Today I took Emmylou for a walk and... holy smokes, was I winded by the top of a nearby hill.

I'll be working hard to get back in shape, but that up-hill walk wasn't a wake-up call, that was a drill sergeant kicking me out of bed and banging a spoon on a pot over my head.  We'll be pushing a bit as we head toward something resembling a decent walking distance.  I was doing about 2.4 miles in the morning before the injury, and then more later for a total of usually 3.5 miles a day.  I was heading toward doing even more when the foot went wonky.

We need to also get back to the gym for strength stuff, of course.  But not til February when all the New Years' nuts have disappeared.
