Weekly Rewind - Week Ending 01/04/2025

when you're being gently reminded it is time for walkies

Holidays are (Mostly) Over

In the pic above, you can see the boxes containing our Christmas trees waiting to be taken out to the garage.

Last week was New Year's week, but it was mostly a non-event.  I worked Monday through Wednesday, and our New Year's Eve was watching some of the programming on network TV.  It was... fine.  Jamie was in bed before 11:00, and Emmylou is not a fan of fireworks, so it was some work getting her out to pee before bed.

Jamie's been fighting a cold and now allergies, so New Year's Day was just lazy.  The next day we de-Christmas'd the inside of the house.  We'll get to the outside next weekend.  And I'll hang the bird-house we got for Christmas.

Went to See the Texas Longhorns Women's Basketball Game

Sunday, I met up with JAL and his family for lunch, and then we went (separately) to see the UT Women play Ole Miss in a round of basketball.  JAL's family has season tickets, and I bought one-game, super cheap tickets in a ridiculous spot.  But it did land me the nice pic above.

Lunch was at Scholtz's, and with the foot still not perfect, I took a pedicab up there.  Jamie was feeling the allergies, so she didn't come.  Which was a bit odd.  It meant I went to sit by myself during the game.  But, honestly, I get very in-my-head while watching sports live, so while I missed Jamie, I also was okay flying solo.

Texas was ahead most of the game by double digits, but Ole Miss sure tried to win that last quarter.  We won, but... yikes.  I guess it was interesting, but I would have taken a blow out.

I was sitting by myself in some less than great seats but at half time they flew the Rudy's Blimp around the arena.  I decided to take a picture.

yes, that is a small blimp

Well, a minute later Justin sent me a picture he took of me taking that picture.

that's me standing up in blue

There's the magic of modern technology.

End of the Year Lists

Over at The Signal Watch, we put out our End of the Year movie review recaps.

I spent a lot of time on those posts.  Please help me get some clicks on them so I won't think it's all for nought.
