Post B-Day Report Out

Well, I'm 51 now.  Whoo-hoo.

Every year I do a post on my birthday with a song about the year.  You can listen to the playlist here.

I'm also raising money for the Austin Humane Society, where we adopted Jeff the Cat, Scout and Emmylou.  So feel free to donate a ton of money.

Just imagine being someone who has been reading this blog (and The Signal Watch) since I started posting in 2003.  Good gravy.

I don't hide from the birthdays as they come, but what I want to do for my birthday has changed greatly.   For our 50th birthdays (Jamie is about 3 weeks older than me) we had a joint party.  This year all I wanted to do was nothing.  Like, let me just do the absolutely normal weekend things I always want to do and usually find a reason I can't or shouldn't.

So, Friday we watched the Artemis II mission return safely.  And after Jamie went to bed I watched RoboCop, because it had been a while.  We ordered in pizza and a salad.

I walked the dog on Saturday morning, went to the comic book shoppe (hey there, Austin Books & Comics), bought Action Comics 255 with the first appearance of Bizarro Lois, and then came home.  Jamie drove me to Casa Garcia's, a local Tex-Mex place that has been a staple of ours since, like, 2001 when we went to the location on South Lamar, and were delighted to find a location by our house here on William Cannon.  Fajitas and a Modelo.  Pretty good.  Then I made Jamie watch all of Conan the Barbarian.

Jamie had made me a Lemon Pound Cake for two reasons.

1) I love lemon baked goods.

Sunday was my actual birthday.  Jamie had already purchased an off-brand Gorilla Cart for me, and last weekend I assembled that.

I will move so many items

She also got me some nifty owl-themed bookends!

Steanso's kids got me a shirt with a Hawaiian Print and Velociraptors eating tacos, which...  well, I'll let you just imagine such a thing.  They came over for a while on Sunday, ate some cake and were small menaces.

Dug and K kind of won the "well, this is very specifically me oriented" present with an action figure of Jamie Lee Curtis' character from the 1995 film, Virus.  Easily one of the worst movies I've seen the past two years.  That's what you see in the pic at the top.

At dinner time, we met up with my parents and had BBQ at County Line.  Pretty good!

After, I wandered over to NeighborPal Brian and Katie's house and met Brian's brother, Keith and his wife.  Pretty nice folks!

Also, I bought myself a present.  The Blastercorn Big Rizz Blaster.
