Accountability check-in
This morning I weighed in at about 17% less than my mass when I started. My mass was considerable, so this is not a small amount of mass while not a huge reduction, percentage wise.
It's all fun and games, but I have a ways to go before I hit my actual goal. And then I have a super-goal, that I don't really think is realistic, but we'll see.
The funny thing about my super-goal is that it still has me listed as very obese on any BMI charts, which is why BMI charts are absolute trash. I'm aware that they're intended for a particular body-type that I do not have. In high school when I was a slender fellow I remember seeing one of them and just laughing, and I never really looked back.
So who knows where this goes? Not me. I'm going to likely just keep trying to take weight off and we'll see what happens. Jamie will let me know when it's worrisome, and we're very, very far from all that right now.
The big thing is - it's not been that difficult, if completely changing what you eat isn't a big deal.
I am at a point where I need to start buying new clothes. The hardest part is pants and I'm mostly concerned I'll drop another size or two and I can't keep buying pants, but it feels stupid not knowing my own size and where I'll be in three months.
WNBA Finals
Well. This series has been insane.
I won't say I don't care who wins, because I DO. But I am fine with either team winning.
The Atlanta Dream kind of exceeded expectations all season, and after struggling under the notoriously lousy coaching staff and ownership of the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese made her way to a team that knew what she could do, and what do you know? Angel Reese is playing in the Finals and - until the last two games - been amazing all through the Play-Offs.
Plus, you have to like Alicia Gray, Jordin Canada and Rhyne Howard. It's a rule.
But you *also* have to like the Valkyries of Golden State (it's San Francisco, let's be honest). A second year team lead by a coach (Natalie Nakase) who is clearly a product of the great Becky Hammon - Gregg Popovich lineage. And a team that is made up of B listers who played so hard they became A-listers. It's a team where there's starters, but it's a true team effort. You can sub people in and the play never really diminishes - I mean, Kayla Thornton isn't a starter - that's how good their bench is.
Both teams have a phenomenal fan base, both teams know it's trash talking on the court, but it's not personal. And the fan bases are not... like a certain Midwestern team's fanbase who have rallied around their team like a Klookie flocking to a burning cross.*
I just want everyone to be happy. Is that so wrong?
Also, Nakase needs this or she might explode.
However, apparently the Dream ownership is surprised that their own team is in the Finals because there has been a real scheduling problem with getting the right arena in the Atlanta area (which is huge, so this is surprising) that can accommodate the games. The problem is that the Atlanta Hawks are now in season, and there are commitments aplenty.
The long and the short of it is that Game 6 will be played in Atlanta at 12:30 PM on a Thursday. It is the case that I will probably miss the Valkyries winning their 4th game and the crown because my work stops for no one. Not even Angel Reese or Gabby Williams.
So now I have to cheer for the Valkyries to lose so I can watch Game 7 at a normal time (which might be Halloween and doesn't work, anyway).
World Series
Well, in the end, I'm cheering for the Brewers. They may be a major rival for The Cubs, but it feels like rooting against someone from the neighborhood to root against them. Plus, The Brewers have a great narrative going into the series.
It's been good baseball! Lots of drama. As of this writing, it's the middle of the 7th inning and things are tied up, so we may go to five games.
*fuck them kids
