Happy post-Thanksgiving.
That picture above is my (first) plate of food from Thanksgiving dinner at my folks' house. Jason, Amy and the kids were visiting her parents and family in Phoenix. Back here we had Karebear at the forefront making an amazing dinner. Jamie made the stuffing (and it was great). The Admiral poured wine. My Unky B moved here this year was in attendance, as was Cousin Sue. And Jamie's Dad, DocDik, rode up with us. Late, my folks' friend, Janie, arrived and joined us.
It was lovely. Had some nice pumpkin pie, too.
The Phoenix voyagers returned before the weekend, so we did all manage to catch dinner out (where I ate so much cheese, I needed to be rolled home).
The Thanksgiving Day Parade
I haven't missed a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in decades, and so I felt it must be a real feeling that thus year's parade was better than it had been in a while - and, indeed, it was. It felt tighter, had artists who weren't just the ones the labels offered up, and so we had Lil John and Shaggy, Darlene Love, and tons of others I knew. Heck, Debbie Gibson was there.
Hilariously, they kicked off the parade with Tom Turkey crossing in front of Macy's to the tune of Raye's Where is My Husband? - one of the best pop hits of 2025.
Anyway, they found the guy who was in charge on social media, and it's been glorious.
Baby Jessica is a Grandma
Did you know that Baby Jessica, the little child who fell down a well and needed to get rescued, is now a grandmother?
Yeah. Me neither. Time is wild, y'all.
I also very much remember how that event was my first exposure to "I don't think we should be covering this live. Things could go very bad."
Song of the Year
"It's the Dog Park" by Mara from Progressive. Streaming now.
I No Longer Stand Alone in Support of an Ornament
It took 20 days, but Marie has joined me in my support of the Hallmark Keepsake Lacey Chabert Porcelain Ornament.
5 stars as well. We're batting a thousand.
Good to have you on board, Marie.
Godzilla Foods
Did you know you can buy me Godzilla pizza and pasta sauce?
Last year I gifted Dug, K, DocDik and Jamie Godzilla coffees and cocoa. I got myself some salsas, and some were really solid. Since then, Godzilla Foods has really expanded the line.
Ketchup, hot sauces, salad dressing, soda, cider, jam, cookies... one could really outfit their pantry with all-Godzilla items.
Kari and Tory from "Mythbusters" have a Podcast
Tory Belleci and Kari Byron are now online and making that sweet podcast money with their endeavor, Mythfits.
Jamie likes to listen to podcasts that are retrospectives of her favorite shows, but I mostly haven't taken to it, with a few exceptions.
Example: I was a Mythbusters fan from the first episode or two, and I really did stick with it to the bitter end. Jamie Hyneman has disappeared from public view, but Adam Savage has been very successful over at Tested, which is really solid.
Mythfits is like seeing old TV friends again, with Kari and Tory discussing both what's going on today and shenanigans from yesteryear. The behind-the-scenes spills out in ways that are kind of mind-boggling. Including injuries sustained, sure. But it also doesn't seem the Build Team (Kari, Grant and Tory) did all that well financially from the show because they were so naive when they were agreeing to contacts (don't worry, they're fine).
The podcast includes interviews of folks from their Mythbusters days (Scottie was an early guest), as well as people they find interesting, like make-up/ FX guru Rick Baker.
Anyway, it's a decent hang if you liked them on Mythbusters and Punkin' Chunkin' - which sounds way more dangerous than the specials let on.
