Well, Thanksgiving is over and we're headed toward Christmas and New Year.
This weekend, Jamie and I managed to decorate the inside and outside of League HQ. It was a large task, but we'd started by setting up one of our two trees last weekend, and it took a surprising amount of pressure off this weekend.
Starting last year, we quit wrapping the upstairs pillars as we had a friendly owl living in the balcony. But the oak tree in front of our house more or less obscures the lights up there, anyway. So, now you just get the four columns of peppermint wrap and the candy lights in the tree. You're welcome.
Emmylou did get her own stocking, and we did get a Christmas Lambchop for her. I put Andre's Christmas hat on Krypto there on the couch.
Yeah, we only have a small tree. Look into it, it'll keep you saner in so many ways. This is a new tree this year (the old tree lasted about a decade but was shedding plastic needles like mad end of last year). It's marginally taller than the prior tree.
Most of our ornaments are from the White House - an annual gift from an Uncle and Aunt who once lived in DC, and then we have some from Jamie's family. They were purchased when her dad was stationed in Germany.
And, yeah, there's Ms. Chabert located in the middle of the tree.
We have our Nutcrackers up top, collected since about 1999. Chibi Godzilla on the shelf down there is new and I forgot I put him there.
Some additional festiveness.
If you turn around, there's the clock and stairs.
Then over in the dining room, we have our *other* nutcrackers. And Jamie's German Christmas Pyramid.
And we're ready with Christmas tunes.
Then, in the Hall of Gentlepersons, each Christmas, many years, we go Super.
This is basically a reverse shot from the dining room:
It's one part library, one part cocktail lounge.
I swap out the usual art for some Alex Ross Superman prints every Christmas season.
And, of course, the Super Tree. I don't put it up every year, but with the movie out this year, it felt like a necessity.
Anyway, there endeth the holiday tour.
Feel free to stop on by. We'll have some cocoa.
