Movies: Before We Leave The Month of Love...

It's Interactivity Time, Leaguers!

I was planning to do a Valentine's Day post about Romantic Movies, or movies that are, essentially, about romantic love. But I thought I'd leave this one to you

This would probably be a good "Mellies" question, but let's just think of this is a warm up.

3 questions:

1) What movie do you think best exemplifies the ultimate expression of romantic love?
2) What movie do you think demonstrates the most fun look at Mad Love?
3) What movie do you think most accurately depicts or reflects how you feel about romantic love in your own reality?

Now add a "Why" to each of those categories.

The answer to all of these questions is probably Norbit.

Are we supposed to email answers or leave them in the comments section?

You can do either. You're the only one participating, it seems.

"Mad Love?" There's no veiled self-deprecation or anything here, but I don't know that I'm familiar with that term.

1) Sense and Sensibility. 18th century costuming is romantic.

2) The Princess Bride. Guy becomes a pirate and comes back from the dead to find his true love and rescue her from 'maaiwage!' That's CRAZEE!

3) The Empire Strikes Back. Hey Ryan, remember when you were frozen in carbonite? That really sucked.

mad love = people crazy in love and/ or crazy for love. Or however you want to define it.

For the mad love category I vote for Mad Love because it's about mad love.

1. Somewhere in Time: A love story between a pocketwatch and a penny. OR When Harry Met Sally: the movie that keeps certain parties of Just Friends pairings pining for years.

2. Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2: Now bear with me, this is about crazy love. (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER) What is more mad love than the story of the bride and her Bill? She flees. He finds her. He shoots her in the head. She survives. She gets better. She gets revenge. And then she finds her lover and fells him with the Five-Point-Palm Exploding Heart Technique. There's a belief system here: once your lover leaves, they should die. Crazy, right? Oh, you said most fun look at mad love. Nevermind.

3. Love, Actually. But only because my husband and I met as porn stand ins.

1. old yeller. boy and dog love is the truest purest love, and since i abhor romance, this is my answer.

2. forrest gump. retarded man, woman with aids, a child to raise...this movie has mad love plus a box of chocolates.

3. leaving las vegas. i tend to romanticize suicide, lushy drunks, and prostitutes.

First, I hate romantic flicks. Give me a good gangster movie anytime. But here goes nothing..

1. No idea. But agree with Old Yeller.

2. Moonstruck. "Cosmo's crazy moon!" Okay, wacky Italians find hot passionate love despite awkward family issues. I still enjoy this one.

3. The beach scene in From Here To Eternity...Yep...definitely that.

1) Moulin Rouge - Risking death and writing an spectacular-spectacular play for the one you love is pretty top notch in my book. I haven't seen The Fountain, but that might have been my answer to #1.

2) The Girl Next Door - it's all sweet, naive and really good-hearted. The marketing on this film was a total crime.

3) Before Sunset - I don't really know if I've seen the movie that fits what you're looking for, so I'll answer with one of my favorite romantic films.
